January

The calendar is full of Assisi recurrences civil and religious celebrations throughout the year. A New Year and Epiphany cribs artistic and monumental adorn the streets, the churches and the narrow streets of the city.

And’ the period of the concerts of choral, among which the Cantori di Assisi, known worldwide.

Orvieto is the international jazz scene with the winter edition of Umbria Jazz (Umbria Jazz Winter).

February

The stillness of Assisi and Umbria is fruibilr in all its beauty. And’ the month of solitary walks to the medieval villages, visited by few tourists.
Nearby liming… Trevi for the Festival of Brruschetta, the many mills open offer the possibility to taste the oil of the olive groves of the Subasio and the surrounding hills, setting up distribution points toast and dressed according to an ancient tradition.
Norcia becomes mall of its typical food, culminating with the Exhibition of black truffle.

A Terni are in place for the celebrations Valentine, patron of the city and of lovers.

March and April

Between March and April Assisi lives Easter celebrations. Holy Week is marked by characteristic and intense procession of the dead Christ through the main streets of the city in the light of the sun torches.

The spring peeps and Umbria begins to show off the famous 'green heart'.

Al Calcinaio, as in the nearby countryside, are pruned olive trees and vines and the hill is covered with flowers.

The villages come alive with the arrival of tourists from around the world.

The mild days favor long walks along the paths of the park of Mount Subasio (characteristic places are the pens, the hermitage of prisons, red stone….

May

The month begins with the most famous folk event of Assisi: May Day, party remote origins that enhances the spring triumphant. The city is divided into two parts, the Noble part de 'Above and Below Magnificent partedè. Lacittadinanza, dressed in period costumes medieval, faithfully reproduced, creates songs, dances, parades, challenges and musical theater, races of archers and crossbowmen. Taverns set up for the party offering typical Umbrian products.

In Gubbio the same medieval atmosphere is instead offered by the Corsa dei Ceri (the 15 May), festival that draws in the native city of Gubbio each year from around the world. I must ask, weighting each one 4 quintals, are brought in arms and icorsa by partaioli dressed in period costume, to the basilica of St. Ubaldo (protector of the city) located on top of the hill.

June

The garden of the first fruits to Calcinaio.

The surrounding towns offer stunning demonstrations, as the Market Gaite in Bevagna (the second week of June) where are remembered aspects of daily life in the Middle Ages, with craft shops vintage, taverns markets shows, keeping the highest historical accuracy and entertainment offering a significant and growing success.

The floral display of spello (Sunday of Corpus Domini) is a celebration of a religious nature which provides, from the population, the decoration of the city streets with thousands of flower petals, to represent subjects of artistic inspiration and sacrac.

The Tournament of the Quintana Foligno, documented since the mid 1400, perpetuated down the centuries the atmosphere of an ancient jousting tournament of '600, in which ten riders of many city neighborhoods, in sumptuous period costumes, compete in a race of high tension and spectacle.

July

And’ Month musicae culture in Umbria, enriched by the Festival of Two Worlds in Spoleto, important festival of theater, dance, opera, concerts and art exhibitions that transforms the city into a workshop of arts.

No less known and appreciated the Umbria Jazz Festival, one of the most important in Europe. The event draws in Perugia in the second week of July, music fans from around the world, attracted by a full calendar of events and proposals, between traditional and innovation.

Rounds artistic Todi Art Festival dedicated to music, theater, visual arts, dance, poetry and literature.

August

Summer is the season of festivals in Umbria, over 100 village festivals that change the face of the Umbrian villages, squares offering the tastiest local produce and traditional dishes (roast goose, cake text porchetta, etc.).

A torgiano artists and critics, along with tourists and fans, producing so-called Vinarelli, painted with colors diluted in wine.

Religious holidays instead culminate between 31 July and 2 August on the Feast of Forgiveness, at the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli, in the commemoration of indulgence obtained by St. Francis to the penitents gathered in Portiuncula, on the occasion of the official confirmation of his Rule by Pope Honorius III.

September

Continue the festivals (special that of onion, in the nearby town of Cannock).

And’ the harvest season of the fruits (figs, pere, my, more, prunes…) and the preparation of jams and honey pots.

The Games of the doors (last week of September) to evoke Gualto tadino ancient races in which faced the inhabitants of 4 medieval quarters and end with a historical parade of great charm.

And back again the Giostra della Quintana in Foligno, animated city earlier this month by Baroque Signs, music event, theater, cinema, and exhibitions inspired by the Baroque.

At the end of the month then there is the national culinary festival The First of Italy.

October

The month begins with the solemnity of St. Francis, the beloved patron saint of Assisi and of Italy. The 3 and 4 October is celebrated her ‘ heavenly birth’ and each year a different Italian region offers the oil for the votive lamp of the tomb of the saint.

A Trevi, instead the Terzieri (first Sunday of the month) evokes the ancient race between 3 floats representing terzieri, traditional division of territory trevano.

Perugia instead offers gourmet festival dedicated to the food of the gods: Eurochocolate (third week of October) where the ancient tradition of chocolate perugina lives on the streets of the city center turned into a real “Cockaigne” for the greedy worldwide.

Calcinaio October is also the month of the grape harvest and forest mushrooms, in particular the mushrooms.

November

And’ the time of the new oil and new wine: finally over 2000 olive trees and vineyard of Calcinaio pay off.

A Trevi, where oil is produced the world's best, mills are open to the public throughout the month.

In Torgiano instead _Novembre is the month of Banco tasting of the wines of Italy.

Perugia offers traditional Fair of the Dead (early November), where traditional crafts alternate with other goods in the global market and the tempting delicacies of the territory.

December

The solemnity of the Immaculate (8 December) opens the period of the Christmas holidays.

Assisi and the entire Umbria are covered with addobbidiscreti and festive. The cribs are scattered around the city seraphic, offering a charming atmosphere.

The beautiful town of Montefalco is home to the food and wine festival Holidays Goblets, dedicated to the great sweet wines, confectionery, botrytized liqueur and domestic and foreign, among which the local Sagrantino.
